Subtractive Variability Vitreum
2015 · resumed 2025 — ongoing
line of Subtractive Variability
The line of Subtractive Variability that encapsulates color in resin. Three layers of subtractive color — cyan, magenta and yellow, in UV paint on PMMA — are embedded inside a solid block: the variability that is kinetic in the rest of the series is here fixed and made sculpture. As the viewer moves, light passes through the layers and the spectrum recomposes.
«Vitreum» refers to glass as a vessel of perception — it preserves color and light while keeping them alive. The first resin pieces are from 2015; the line resumes in 2025-26, heading the work list of Parallel Practices, from hand-held format to the column over a meter tall.
