Optichromie
2014 — ongoing · in the studio registry: 2014–today
The first series after lettering: black-and-white op-art fields — grids, moiré rings, QR strips, glitch noise — juxtaposed with color gradients at maximum saturation. The name is a declared homage to Carlos Cruz-Diez's Physichromies.
OPTICHROMIE 1 (2014, enamel on canvas, 80×80 cm) marks the shedding of the letter as a compositional element. The support tells the material history of the studio: canvas and wood at first; from 2016, aluminum composite panel with aluminum frame — his signature support. It is also his flagship series in the street: from Buffalo to Fuenlabrada, up to his largest work, OPTICHROMIE for Jersey City (2024, 25 stories).

“I needed my graffiti to stand out amongst other graffiti writers. I increased the contrast in my pieces (pictorially) so I ended up using only black and white op-art kind of elements juxtaposed to the most saturated colors. At some point I got rid of the letters of my graffiti name and I started doing abstract compositions. I titled them “Optichromies” as an homage to the master's Cruz-Diez' Physichromies.”
