His first fully abstract mural — traces of «PANT» remained, barely legible — painted at a small festival with no fee, on the walls and steps of a Menorcan cove. The entire optical pattern is done with spray paint, freehand: marked out only with pencil and ruler, without a single strip of tape.
The story
Freehand, without a strip of tape
The entire optical pattern of this cove is spray-painted freehand. No stencils, no masking tape: Felipe marked each line with nothing but pencil and ruler and then filled it in freehand, controlling the edge of each stripe by sheer wrist. It is his first completely abstract mural — remnants of «PANT» could still be made out, barely legible — at a small festival with no fee, on the walls and steps of the cove. The precision that machines would provide years later was provided here by the hand.
